Using the Applications Drawer

Most features to manage open applications are found in the Applications Drawer. In addition to switching applications, the following functionality is available directly in the Applications Drawer:


Open an Application

Show/Hide Application Name Labels

Close an Application

Pin an Application to the Drawer

Open an Application in a New Window

Launch Application Videos and Documentation



Open an Application

Some applications, such as Tasks and Messages, are always available on the Applications Bar. Other applications you will need to open by navigating to the Apps menu and selecting the application.


EITHER select the currently open application on the top, left of the window OR select the App menu icon on the Applications Drawer.




Show/Hide Application Name Labels

The Applications Bar in Kahua provides an expanded and collapsed view to suit your preferred style. In the expanded view, application names are displayed. In the collapsed view, you can still identify the application by hovering over the icon until the name displays. The view toggle is located at the top of the Application Bar. It displays a Menu icon to expand the bar and a Back-Arrow icon to collapse the bar.





Close an Application

When you are finished working in an application, you can remove it from the app bar by right clicking in the applications Bar. 

  1. Right click the application in the Applications Bar to bring up the contextual menu
  2. Select Close



Pin an Application to the Applications Drawer

If you have an application you use on a regular basis, you might want to pin the application to open on startup of Kahua. 

  1. Open the application in the usual manner
  2. Right click the application in the Applications Bar to bring up the contextual menu
  3. Select Show on Startup




Open an Application in a New Window 

You might want to open an application in a new window to be able to view multiple applications at once and compare or quickly edit multiple records simultaneously.

  1. Open the application in the usual manner
  2. Right click the application in the Applications Bar to bring up the contextual menu
  3. Select Open in New Window



Launch Application Videos and Documentation 

If supporting videos and documentation exists for an application within the Kahua product, you will also see a link to Videos and Documentation in the application context menu.

  1. Open the application in the usual manner
  2. Right click the application in the Applications Bar to bring up the contextual menu
  3. Select Videos & Documentation
