Long Paths Not Allowed - Enable Long Path Support in Windows

Upon logging into Kahua, you may receive the message below:



Windows only supports path sizes that are less than 255 characters. This can prevent folders and files, that are located deeper in the folder structure, from being synced to the local PC.


In Windows 10 (starting with version 1607), there is a way to enable support for longer file paths by editing the registry.

To enable long path support, please follow the steps in the attached document below.

 

Note: The update requires local admin rights on the computer and should only be performed by someone knowledgeable with updating the registry. It is strongly advised to make a backup of the registry prior to making any changes.
