Outbound Email, Application and DocuSign File Size and Type Upload Restrictions

Outbound Email Size Limit


The maximum outbound email size limit is 20MB. In the event an outbound email exceeds this limit, the email body is still sent, but the attachments are removed and replaced with an attachment text message entitled "attachments_removed.txt" which includes the following text:


The attachments exceed 20 megabytes. The following files have been removed:

{file name.file type - file size}

If you are a Kahua user, you can access these files in your Messages app using the “Click Here” link in the footer of this email.

If you are not a Kahua user, request a Kahua invitation from the sender to create a free Kahua account, which will allow you to access large files sent from Kahua in the future.


App File Size Limit


The maximum file size upload limit for all apps is 2GB; specifically 2,147,482,548 bytes. Users will be warned when exceeding the maximum file size.


DocuSign File Size Limits


Kahua has increased the cumulative size limit when sending multiple files for electronic signature via DocuSign from 25MB to 94MB. Users will be warned when exceeding the maximum individual and cumulative file size for DocuSign.

  • Individual File Size Maximum per send: 46MB
  • Cumulative File Size Maximum per send: 92MB

File Type Upload Restrictions


For security reasons, Kahua blocks potentially malicious file types from being uploaded. The following file extensions are affected by this:

com
css
dll
dmg
exe
jar
js
jsp
htm
html
php
php3
ps1
swf
vba
vbs
vbx
xlm
xlv


A zip file containing any of the above restricted file types will be blocked from being uploaded into Kahua.
