Templatizing Milestones

Similar to the File Structure, you may manually enter (or import) milestones to a project that may serve as a template for creation of additional projects. If you are using the app ‘Portfolio Management’, copy of a project will in turn also copy the Milestones that have been created in that project to the new project.

Create Milestone records (typically with no dates listed) as a foundational template in your project, and use that project as a starting point to copy / initiative other projects. See the Milestone app article for additional guidance on creating Milestone records in a project.

NOTE: You may not ‘Copy’ a list of milestones from one project to another after that project has already been created – the structure must be copied as part of the project creation (Create from Template or Copy of an existing project). Many companies will create a ‘Template’ project with several items defaulted, including File Structure, that they utilize to initiate new projects moving forward to ensure consistency.
