Overview
The Gmail add-on allows users of Kahua to capture and upload pertinent conversations and information that occur outside of Kahua with just a few button clicks rather than any sort of copy/paste exercise or missing the information altogether.
Specifically, users can upload emails and email attachments to the Messages app inside Kahua or upload and attach them to specific records and projects in Kahua. When uploading to the Messages app, the body of the email is extracted to the body of the Kahua message, and any images or attachments in the original email will be attached as files to the Kahua message.
Similarly, when uploading an email to a specific record in Kahua, images are stripped from the email body, the email is converted to a PDF and uploaded to the Kahua record, and the user may optionally choose to have any images and email attachments uploaded to the Kahua record as well. When uploading an email to a Kahua record, the user can select the specific project, application, and record to which the email will be attached.
Installation and Use
Once the Kahua Gmail add-on is installed through the google app store, users will see a Kahua logo icon in the sidebar of the Gmail web application. After selecting an email and clicking the Kahua icon, a drawer will appear on the right side of the screen allowing the user to adjust settings, choose where to upload the email and attachments, and complete the upload.
Launch the Kahua Gmail Add-on
Click the Kahua icon in the add-on toolbar.

You will be prompted to allow the Kahua add-on to both show in Gmail as well as access your Google account.

Authorize the add-on to access your Kahua account. Click the Authorize Access link

Once you’ve logged in successfully, the add-on will render in the drawer.
Select the Domain and Project.

Choose where all you want the email to be attached/upload in Kahua.
Selecting “Add to app” will introduce an additional step to select the app and record to which the email will be uploaded as a Kahua reference document.

Select the Target Application, Reference Type, and Document. Select what parts of the email you want to upload to Kahua.
Click the Finish button. |

Access to Google Account Data
The Kahua Gmail Add-on will request access to your Google account, specifically the following information:
Simply installing the Kahua Gmail add-on does not provide Kahua with any access to Google user data. Upon selecting a mail message, launching the add-on, and then clicking the Finish button to perform the upload, Kahua is granted access to only the email that was selected and no other Google user data.
